Out of all the dead lines – Studebaker, AMC, Olds, ect – which one do you miss the most and why?

American Motors… the last of the independant. The last car manufacturer that isn’t a part of the big three. Who had ideas on their own car styles and “trademarks.” American Motors’ cars were different and special. If the govenment didn’t go and change everything about cars in the late ’70s & ’80s we will probably still be buying AMC cars that still are designed and have ideas from good ‘ol Edmund Anderson & Bill Reddig.

Olds is another thing. I don’t like who GM just dropped their longest car manufacturer like that. To make room for the new “GM” jap cars. (Jap cars under GM distribution.) Why don’t they just nake the changes themselves to the Oldsmobile line?

I have a soft spot in my head for Kaiser-Frazer cars. icon_applause.gif Kaiser, Frazer, Henry J, Darrin, Willys Aero, etc. Still slowly working on my 48 Frazer. I like it because it’s not well known and I seldom see another one when I’m at a show or cruise. It’s fun listening to the stories of people who remember them and the guesses of the people who have no clue. jumpy.gif

I would say AMC since I am more familiar with them. They were a Wisconsin product and a good one.

Outside of Michigan Wisconsin has probably had just about as many car companies here. Many of the companies were very obscure, not known by many.
