For this weekend only, the Palm Beach auction has been on Speed. This isn’t as big as the Scottsdale one earlier in the year, but there are still a lot of nice cars going across the block. Has anyone else been watching this?

The prices seem to be a little more realistic. Alot of people who just want their face on camera though.

What is the highest price so far? Last I saw it was 100,000 something but that was early yesterday

I have been watching it. I thought maybe there would be a final close-out session this afternoon, or tonight, but for the life of me, I can’t find it on the TV schedule.

The first day was Thursday, and prices seemed to be realistic and reasonable. I didn’t see anything go across the auction block on Saturday for less than 100K. Granted, there was some choice vehicles being sold, but I just don’t think your average auto enthusiast has got that kind of money. But, I am reminded that this is Palm Beach and the folks that attend these things are not your average auto enthusiast.

I made a mental note to myself that if I were to try and buy a car at this auction that it would have to be on the first day, because the better more expensive, higher prices cars are always held or scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

True the first day of an auction is the bargain day. The highest price I saw was about 1.8 million for a foreign classic.

Do you remember the specifics of the top seller?

    I believe it was a 1947 Bentleynormal_2006PBCCA2_723_34.jpg

Ah yes, I heard them talking about it but it hasn’t come across the block yet in the taped version I’m watching. Some very nice cars though, I saw a 69 mach 1 fastback go for $118,000 and an all stock 57 tbird for $70,000

Like most of the recent Barrett-Jackson auctions, this one was also top heavy with Corvettes. It seemed like every other car was a Corvette of some sort. Maybe I am just envious because they consistently are bringing top dollar.

They were very heavy on Corvettes, they seem to always bring good money. Though i did see a couple which were somewhat affordable.

Yes I noticed a lot of the 327s were going for around $50,000 – not too bad for a ‘vette
