So I always here about Panasonics ELS surround sound on the am news station I listen to to and from work. I believe its DVD-audio though I’m not sure. It would be 5.1 though from my understanding of dvd audio.

My parents had leased a pacifica a few years ago with a dvd player in it. Unfortuanately the package they chose was really only stereo so it wasn’t the traditional 5.1 setup – though it still sounded good.

But I would be curious about the car surround sound. Also if you could pop in a standard concert dvd would it be accurately reproduced??

Though I’m sure not going to spend a $1000 to add one to my car it would be interesting for a demo of one.

Well I guess depends on how much time you spend in your car – how many hours do you a week?

So far I’ve been happy with good stereos. The surround would be okay in a
car that was very quiet inside, like a Rolls Royce. Otherwise there is probably
too much road and traffic noise to make it enjoyable.

Probably true but it would be interesting to hear how they would manipulate it to work with a center channel and a dedicated subwoofer.

Hearing the vocals out of a single speaker and then group vocals through multichannel surround would be cool on the road. Though not worth the price in my opinion. :)

Pleeeease no more subwoofers! Those cars go past here all the time
with their subs thumping. I’m surprised their eyeballs don’t bounce
up and down while their driving!

    Agreed, less subwoofers the better

Sorry but I can’t tell if you’re joking or not???

.1 is the subwoofer – The low frequency signal.

All we need is another distraction for the millions of idiots who can’t drive. Too many people play with their stereos too much as it is. Plus, too many people have crappy music blaring already too.
