Mine was a 1972 flatscreen VW Beetle 1302 back in 1990 and it had a great registration plate also.

this is a diecast model but it’s the same colour as mine was

I’ve probably still got bits of it lying around along with a few other Beetle bits. I also had a pink Baja Beetle (one below is a pic but not mine) as a few of my mates were really into restoring Beetles in the early 90’s. They are great fun cars to play around with I think thumbsup.gif

Although that’d be the only car I’ve owned! 😉

not bad for a first car although I probably had something to do with the construction of the interior and chances are it will have my identity number somewhere in there. I used to work for the interior suppliers to Nissan w00t.gif. How’s the seats in the car, are they comfy enough? :). Hated the job, as most people do there but it got me 20% off a new Micra in 1999 and the pay wasn’t bad thumbsup.gif

The seats are actually very comfortable, but everything in the interior is prone to breaking… All the time….. thumbsup.gif 😉

I’ve got to say, though, it’s a very thoughtful interior – I do like it. Things are always easy enough to sort out.

I’m saying interior but it’s just the actual seats we built at our place :). The problem with Nissan is that competition is fierce and they would always look for ways to use even less people on a production line, yet keep the same production per hour crybaby2.gif. In then end it just got ridiculous as people had no recovery time, you had seconds to do your process and that was it. QA standards dropped by the workers and very few cared about their job.

I mainly built the foam you are sitting on but some of that foam is stuck together with spray glue and stickers :D. If there were air bubbles created during the process we just stuck ripped bits of foam in and stuck over a sticker :D. If anyone ever takes of the covers from the seats they will see the Frankenstein creations we made w00t.gif

When I hurt my neck I was put on the easy job of checking the right delivery sequence to Nissan. I last man to see the sets of seats go out the door to Nissan and some of the crap I saw was terrible icon_scratch.gif. Even though my job was just to check sequence I had to stop the line because ifI let it go, the guy who checked it and stamped it would be in trouble

I was one of the good workers capable of exceeding even those high production demands but it sickened me working with some people on the line, who either couldn’t grasp the skills or were just plain lazy. Sometimes it felt like you were dragging a dead donkey by your teeth as they made the job so much harder and this is one thing that destroyed the place

like I said pay was good but I’m glad part of the work disappeared over to some eastern european country and I got made redundant (I volunteered :D)

Sounds like you had a bit of fun, at least, MackemX. You need to, in a production situation. :)

oh we did have fun at times w00t.gif. The wire bundles had elastic bands around them , great for firing at people :P. I must admit I was a clown as that helped relieve the boredom factor of doing the same thing over and over and over and over again 😯

another mean trick was the foam would shrink after coming out the mould so you had to crush it. This built up static electricity and one strategically placed fingertip to the side of someone’s neck often ended up with laughter icon_headbang.gif

some of the pranks people pulled in that place were priceless though icon_punk.gif

My sister owns a 1964 1/2 Mustang she bought brand new! icon_cheesygrin.gif
    She also owns a 1940’s Willy’s Jeep. w00t.gif
(Both have been restored a couple of times.)

As for me, I usually get a different car every 10 or 11 years.

    @Cobra, that’s a great looking auto.
