Yes, actually it is. Just a few small things before the season starts.
It was pointed out to me that the original chrome trim was nice, but only “driver quality”. There was some minor surface pitting evident along with the plastic and rubber mounting gaskets and backing plates showing their age (40 years plus). So, I was able to get show quality chrome reproduction stuff (Scott Drake Enterprises) – i.e., tail light housings, door handles, lock cyclinder housings, and new lock cyclinders. I am about to finish up the driver’s door, but in order to replace the door handle, mounting gasket, etc., it is necessary to take off the door panel and work behind the lock mechanisms and window regulators. Essentially the space is very cramped and you cannot see, so I am really working in the dark and my hands and fingers are way too big for what I am trying to do. I am pretty certain, though, that I will get this work done with just a couple of more hours invested into the project.
I then need to pull the stainless steel trim off of the windshield and rear window, and Madison Custom Polishing and Plating on Stewart Street is lined up to take care of that chore.
I have had the car on the road (took it out last Saturday for about an hour), and it is running well.
