As car show chair for the 5th Annual Horicon Marsh Classic Car Show, I want to thank everyone who attended our show this year. We had a total of 199 vehicles in attendance with about 450 people as well as about another 200 or so spectators. Honestly, we put our heart and soul into this show and we can only handle about another 75-100 more cars because of our judging manpower, so I call 200 cars right within our target window.
The participants were great and treated the city park with care. Garbage was at a minimum and there were no burnouts. The city has told me that we are invited to use the park again next year, so we will be back. We are tentatively looking at Saturday, September 6, 2008 for next year. We haven’t formally voted on it to date. We’ll hold the vote in October so I will update for sure then.
We had 30 judged classes but we ended up with four classes where there wasn’t any vehicles in them. So, for next year, we’ll change some classes around to something like some custom classes as well as a division between fiberglass hot rods and bonafide hot rods. We were sad to see only one van show up, so that class will change tro something else as well.
I look forwad to any feedback we can receive on our show, good or bad. There are always areas where we can improve. We had identified an area that needs improvement in that we will move the food closer to the car show parking. We are also working on getting one very large, quiet generator instead of the five, small, loud ones we had.
Once again, thanks to all who came. We look forward to seeing you next year and hope some more folks come as well.
Take care & God bless, Joel McNabb, Car Show Chair, HMCCC Marsh Rats
