Were getting screwed every time we go to the gas station, and unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it. Our society is built around mobility and gasoline powered vehicles provide our mobility for the most part. The speculators are lining their wallets.

It will be a brave new world in the next 3-5 years….

I just added the following flicks to my que (about oil):

Is everybody happy now that gas is under $4 a gallon?

No, I’m not happy. 22 gallons cost me $83!

Drill here, drill now. Kiss off on all these middle eastern countries that bend us over every time we go to the pump. Put the speculators in front of a firing squad.

I’m fine, my SUV still runs the same as it did and gets the same middle finger salutes in Madison.

My old cars still suck fuel like crazy but for some reason I’ve driven more this summer in them then years past.

Maybe it’s the E85 conversion on the Camaro I did that helps the wallet so. 13mpg whether it’s 5 dollar fuel or $3.12 105 octane E85 thumbsup.gif

Unfortunately drilling here and now will have little or any affect on the price of gas, the greedy bastards running the oil companies will put it on the open market so we would probably not see any benefit. And it would take a long time for any impact. The only way to make an impact is to use alternative fuels and the oil companies are doing nothing to help that, I believe they are doing as much as possible to prevent that. People in this country would have to make big changes to their way of life and I don’t think they are willing to do that. Many are being forced to do that though with the cost of everything going up. People in the United States are basically very selfish, they want everything and they want it now, hence the explosion in credit card debt.

Of course the government (you know the one owned by the oil companies) could start to go after these oil companies when they say they have to sell oil at these prices to stay in business but then produce record quarterly profits.

well, I’m not expecting oil companies to look into alternative energy sources or fuels. They are in the oil business.

Of course when it all shakes out they will be the owners of most alternative sources/equipment and suppliers of it. They have the money to buy it up. Oil isn’t going away anytime soon, it’s used in to many other products we use everyday.

My future prediction, since this country always needs a fad or “new toy” to go after will be the alternative energy car bubble.

Internet bubble, SUV bubble, Housing bubble and now we have companies all over popping up with their solutions to the “crisis” we are suppose to be in. Here comes the next crash and burn. Because I’m sure everyone will run out and try to buy a 100,000 Tesla roadster or want to get into a Hybrid of some sort. Amazing to watch the finacial choices people are making over cars right now.
