When I retire (if I live that long) I will not be able to count on social security. I started my fund at a young age, and put a large amount of my wages in it each week.
Lately, it doesn’t seem to be worth it :hammer:

Not for me. I see to many guys retire and be dead in a year from doing nothing. I don’t work now as it is, I get to play with cars all day long and don’t plan on stopping.
My Dad started pulling SS at 62 and just turned 65, I can’t get him out of the shop except when he goes to play at the farm.
Has the recent events pushed back your ability to retire in the foreseeable future?
Not being able to retire has many affects, one being keeping jobs out of younger workers hands who are looking for jobs.
In my case, absolutely.
One of the TV network financial pundits said just today, go to your employer and tell them you intend to work another ten years! w00t.gif
Instead of 62, I will need to work to 66, or beyond.
It is going to affect allot of people. I ended up selling my black ’68 GTO. It will be cruising the streets of Atlanta Georgia. Just can’t handle the 3 cars. I think this economy is going to get much worse.
