Current House Values = Lower Property Taxes – Wisconsin Collector Car

Since the value of houses around here have gone down shouldn’t the amount of property taxes go down also? Shouldn’t they re-assess houses to accurately reflect their value?

What are current prices down from a year or two ago? Seems like 25 to 30% is a fair percentage.

On a local level they may. I know mine will since my township has a smaller budget then last year.

On a state level I expect diamond doyle to bend me over and take what he pleases. That and the bite MATC takes for Dane County residences I’m expecting a spike overall.

Doyle and his entourage don’t want to let your property taxes go down, that’s less money for the state. I agree that if the value of the property goes down, taxes should reflect that.
