How many people here frequent the races at local tracks? What tracks do you go to and why? Anyone do any drag racing?

I haven’t done any drag racing in a couple years now, but when I did I went to either Byron or Union Grove. I like the nostalgic feeling of those tracks. havne’t been to the one in Earlville, IA yet, but I did drive past it a few times:P

I attend the races weekly at MIS on Oregon. Steve helps out my cousin with his late model and has done so for a few years now. We know many of the drivers and their families, so it’s more than a Friday night out looking for something to do.

We’ve also attended/raced at tracks around Wisconsin, along with the ones closer to home including Jefferson & Columbus.

Racing turns into a family affair very quickly, much like attending car shows throughout the summer does. It’s very important to support your local track and I encourate anyone that hasn’t taken a trip to the tracks in the area to do so!

Steve goes to Union Grove once or twice a year with a group of friends and I know Christian Brothers in Belleville rents out the track in Iowa for a day (or so) in June. In the years before we were married and had children, we drove to Union Grove on a regular basis. It’s fun to go back now, the place hasn’t changed much over the years, I don’t think they do that on purpose though!

I have been to MIS the last couple of years and had a good time. Maybe this coming year they will have the car show there that was planned. I will have to check out the others.

I crewed and wrenched for a friend http://www.redheadracing.net road racing the last few years. Missed the better part of two seasons now since he had a little one and bought a house. It also didn’t help the car was wrecked at Chicago Autobahn and the replacement was sold, and the new cars aren’t built since I had the Edsel and Cobra builds going.

Going to get back into autocross and road racing again though now that my brother moved back in the area. We used to autoX the bimmer and had a blast.

So if we can get back into it, Road America, Columbus, Jefferson, BlackHawk Farms, Rockford, Milwaukee for road racing and autoX

We also plan to hit Byron for some grudge match racing this summer. The Cobra and Camaro need to fight it out for the top spot.
