Starting tommorrow on HD Theatre, Channel 706 on Charter HD.

It’s the Mecum Collector Car auction (live) from Kissiminee, FL on Thursday and Friday nights from 6-10PM, and Saturday from 1-5PM, for a total of 12 hours. This one appears to be very saturated with Corvettes. I didn’t overdose on auction coverage from Barrett-Jackson, so I am going to follow this one, also.

This was an interesting one to watch last year, they had camera guys in the crowd folloing the bidder assistants. The assistants there are very, how do I say, pushy. One guy blew up at them with a slew of profane words, but thanks to great tv editing they didn’t get it all bleeped in time

I also notice you see more “blue collar” folks at the Mecum auctions buying and selling cars. To me, these are the people that really enjoy them because they drive them, show them, etc. They’re not the type to buy-buy-buy on national television and then have them sitting in a warehouse as part of a personal collection.

I am looking forward to this auction also. There will be a much better selection of muscle cars than at Barrett-Jackson.

Looks like many nice cars going at reasonable prices. This auction is refreshing with it’s no nonsense approach. They really moves the cars through. Mid 70’s to early 80’s Trans-Ams and Camaros seem quite strong.A beautiful black 68 Shelby GT350 went for $68,000. A good buy.

    I watched last night, also.

Chevrolets’, in general, are doing very well at this auction, also. Lots of Chevelles, Camaros, and Corvettes. I saw several Corvettes get hammered away that I thought were good buys.

I was following a ’72 Chevelle SS Convertible, Red W/White interior and white top, which sold for 27,500, which I thought was a real bargain.

I like the heavy concentration of American muscle, with a few foreign and exotic cars/trucks mixed in.

I’m really enjoying the fact that it is in HD. The close-ups are like you are there.
