Anyone here have Charter for cable TV and are you worried if they go bankrupt?

I just heard about this, is it pretty sure that they’re going under?

They have about 20 billion in debt coming due by 2013. Their stock is 8 cents a share. Paul Allen has lost 7 billion so far.

I just recently (this month) upgraded from Charter’s basic cable service to their HD Digital Home Entertainment Package. I didn’t know that Charter was having any difficulties.

I am not worried, as I would assume that someone else (AT&T for example) would step in and pick-up their business.

I killed charter this past fall. I saved 20 bucks a month, get more channels, a dvr (that I can access from all of my tvs in the house), a ton more HD, a ton more Big ten channels, and a signal that is less compressed.

Same goes for internet. Went to DSL, it is faster, never had any downtime in 6 months, and is 7 bucks cheaper a month.

Same here as far as Dish – cheaper for tv with the wonderful DVR feature. I love not having to watch shows at a particular time. Now I can choose when to watch them and also fast forward commercials and other parts.

Same here, Im about to switch this comming month. There are plenty of companies that want to service these areas…its just that Charter had such a monopoly with the towns as service provider.

Charter is one company I would love to see burn to the ground…

My girlfriend has Charter cable at her place, $114 a month for jack squat to watch. I think she’s going to get rid of it finally.

I hooked up my converter boxes to my tv’s to get the digital channels and signals, and I really like it! I get all my local Madison stations, plus the extra channels like 15-2 which is weather, and 27-2 the retro tv network. I get home every night and can watch Knight Rider (the hasselhoff era, not the cheesy new ones:cheer: ) and the A-Team!

I personally wouldn’t want any more TV channels than that. That way I give myself more to do outside and around the house.

I received a letter from Dish yesterday. On the outside of the envelop it said IMPORTANT billing change information…

Great… they are going to jack my bill just like charter…

but I opened it and read they were lowering my bill by 3 bucks a month!

    WooHoo! Dish!
