Yeah, US Congress bails out a Japanese Auto Manufacturer… I wouldn’t be suprised, considering the current administration.

I think the Toyota thing has gotten blown way out of proportion. Simply because of the shear amount of vehicles they have on the road compared to other manufacturers. Its simple math: the more cars you have on the road, the more dramatic the recall is.

We own a Toyota and love it. I plan on trading my Sonoma truck for a small Tundra. My sister has a Corolla and hasnt had any issues with hers and is about to trade it in for a new one.

As for repairing public image..thats going to be very hard. Although I dont think it is going to be as damaging as the media is making it out to be. Toyota’s record is pretty solid, so I think this will be more of a hiccup and wake-up call.

Toyota got 2 big 2 fast. Hence they started cranking out cars that were less then safe. There are problems with the cars due to poor quality. That’s just what happens.

The latest story about the Prius that went out of control sounds like it may of been made up. The car has been inspected by multiple sources and nothing wrong has been found. I am beginning to believe Toyota is getting the short end of the stick by the media and other sources. People have certainly jumped on the bandwagon against Toyota.

    GTO Man,
I am in agreement. I drove past Smart Motors today and both their new car dealership and the used lot looked like a ghost town. Nobody looking, nobody buying, and their inventory is busting at the seams.

This Saturday Night Live video probably didn’t help either (the video is towards the bottom):
