Walker, our slow thinking governor hails it as a victory. I hope the people who elected him are happy. This sends a very clear message that Wisconsin is anti-business.

I’m happy my taxes won’t increase to pay the G back for it.

I have asked every person that was for the project, “Would you ride it?” and not one person has answered ‘yes’.

Let’s fix our highways and bridges instead. That will create jobs, too. Of course, the eco-nazi Madison liberals may comprimise for a bike lane…

This was not meant to be the end-all for rail travel. It is a start and now some other state will have the money to start. Because of backward thinking, Wisconsin will have no part in a link from Minneapolis to Chicago. I didn’t see this necessarily as a daily way to get to work, it was more of a way to get back and forth to Milwaukee, Chicago or Minneapolis. It is short-sighted to turn down an opportunity like this. Businesses were going to be started, jobs created at the locations where the train would stop. This is one reason that Wisconsin has a reputation of being inhabited by cave dwellers.

It seems “short sighted” is what this state thrives on….OH wait, we’re not thriving, I forgot.

The whole thing about this is, why didn’t Doyle go for SuperSteel? This company was already based here and had the ability to build rail cars instead of getting Talgo, a foreign company that made it clear they were not hiring minorities. Because of this decision by Doyle, Supersteel lost a major contract from a Japanese company to build cars for the METRA lines in Illinois. BTW, as for not having a connection to the Twin Cities, Amtrak already has the Empire Builder route to that destination. Going to Madison (actually Dane County Airport) in the middle of nowhere requires cabs to where you really want to go from the station. I never supported this so-called high speed rail line because it would never support itself. It would be a government subsidized service that we would be on the hook for. I like rail travel but I would more use my car to go to Madison…and get there quicker and cheaper.

Like not wanting a free car because you have to buy gas and insurance.

What will happen to the train’s maintenance when the state of California runs out of money? It is a different political atmosphere out there (I lived there) and eventually the Californians will say enough is enough.
