I don’t understand how that could be done, especially with them having the option to have State retirement.

There is some speculation on other websites that the state (under the direction of Gov Walker) would contract out with a temp employment agency. For example, the state could pay a temp employment agency $18 per hour per employee and the temp employment agency would pay the individual employee $8 per hour, or just enough to preclude him/her from qualifying for badgercare. The beauty of this plan would is that neither the state nor the temp employment agency would have to pay for any other benefits. I suspect that the individual employee would not have any $$$ to contribute towards the state’s retirement fund. But, Gov Walker would have “created” an additional 266 jobs.

I have a relative in IN that worked for the welfare office as a state employee with all the state benefits. The state then privatized part of the welfare system. They now work for a private company doing the same job with less pay and benefits. There are a lot of angles to this.

    Absolutely true!

I don’t know if any of us will be smart enough or quick enough to realize what is being done, in time enough to question the wisdom of the decision or effect some change.

In my mind, privatization is about the same as right-to-work status.
