I’m new to this message board, but I would like to alert the community to a fraudulent business based out of Taylor, Wisconsin.

A few months ago, I purchased a timing chain cover for a GTO through Dale Spencer of the website http://www.gtoman.com. After several months of excuses and promises to ship the part, last week when I called to inquire about the part he replied “well, I’ll tell you what the problem is…” and then hung up. Since then there have been no responses to my emails or phone calls. Obviously, this was all just a scam. I called paypal to request my money back, but because 45 days have passed since the date of the purchase, they aren’t able to do anything (which explains why he was so responsive for so long, and now is avoiding me – he was trying to make it past the 45 day point). At this point I have requested a charge back through my credit card company, so hopefully I’ll be able to recoup my money.

Googling for Dale Spencer and gtoman.com reveals that I’m not the only one he has scammed. The following forum post from gtoforum.com is someone else complaining that Dale stole $725 from him:
    http://www.gtoforum.com/f12/looking-help-pontiac-community-26666/

It’s worth noting that I live in California, and the user on that forum is from Pennsylvania. He may just be scamming people who are too far from him to realistically pursue him in small claims court.

More googling comes up with this Wisconsin Delinquent Taxpayers website:
    http://www.revenue.wi.gov/delqlist/ctallT.htm

Dale Spencer of Taylor, WI is listed as being delinquent on $182,598.67 of sales, income, and business tax registration taxes in the state of Wisconsin. I guess if you’re already committing mail fraud, it only makes sense to commit tax evasion too.

I just want everyone to be aware of this guy, especially since this is a Wisconsin area message board, and he lives in Wisconsin. There is lots more information on him if you do some more googling. Don’t deal with Dale Spencer and don’t give him any of your money. He’s a criminal.

While I’m sorry for your loss and having to deal with someone like this, I also appreciate your honesty.

    Joe,

Likewise, sorry to hear of your troubles. You’ve dug up some pretty interesting stuff. I see he’s got no address listed on his site.

I don’t know whether it would be of any help, but here in Wis., these sorts of complaints go through the dept of Ag, Trade & Consumer Protection. If you haven’t yet contacted them, I’d suggest that you do so. Here’s a link: http://datcp.wi.gov/

Bad news always travels well. I emailed him a link to this forum thread. Good luck in resolving this.

Thanks for posting information on the crook, Dale Spencer. I hope you are able to recover your money. With the amount of money Spencer owes in taxes he may end up spending time in prison.

    Joe,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for joining and posting.

This is useful and necessary information, especially for the Pontiac/GTO/Judge enthusiasts on this forum, and there are several, probably more.

Hopefully, you can recover your losses.

Unfortunately, for those of us who buy restoration and/or replacement parts using the internet, this has probably happened at least once. Personally, I have been ripped off or defrauded several times on high end restoration parts over the past ten years.
