I rolled into the show at about 11AM .. there was plenty of construction from Madison to Milwaukee …

The show was at a dealership and they had it in the back lot of one of their buildings (I would think in the front of the dealership would draw more spectators in).

It was a balmy 53 degrees with a breeze and cloudy (brrrr). They had a large tent set up with food (1 dollar hot dogs and 2 bucks for a burger)and items for the door prizes (about 20 items and you purchased a ticket for 1 dollar and placed it in the bucket in front of the item (I believe they call this a Chinese auction).

There were also 4 vendors selling VW related items.

lordairgtar was spinning the tunes when the band was not playing.

About 50 cars showed up with about 80% were Beetles.

Judging was participant (and I heard plenty of, “I’ll vote for yours if you vote for mine”).

I really enjoyed myself at this one. Having to share space with a band meant I could roam around and look at the cars more closely. One of the very nice things this club did, in cooperation with the Auto Modellers Group (model car club) was helping a club member out with his Rolls VW. Steve has a lot of serious health issues and we pooled our money to have the grille on his Rolls Bug replaced with a nice stainless steel unit. It was hand made by a local metal worker. He was not aware of the switheroo going on but he was quite pleased and also quite speechless at the outcome. These are the kind of people in these two clubs. Steve is a member of both MAVWC and AMG.
