    Hey Guys…
I was thinking about coming over to the Janesville show this coming Saturday. Could anyone who’s familiar with the show (or area in general), give me their opinion on what to expect?? Assuming good weather, what would be the typical turnout for that show? Is there much spectator traffic (other than participants)?? I’ve looked at some of the past shows pictures, and it looks like it’s in an open grass lawn/field… is that correct?

Being from out of your “normal” area, I have to ask this: Are “outsiders” well received and welcomed in the Janesville area? I know how some areas down here in Iowa are – if you aren’t in the hometown car club, you get a very cold reception from a lot of participants, almost to the point of wanting to leave. I’m sure not assuming Janesville is that way, but I thought I’d ask. I’ll be the first to admit some Iowa clubs are that way.

I haven’t made plans for certain yet,, but I’d sure like to try a show in the area sometime soon. I thought the Jesus/Hotrod show might just be the best option for the rest of the year.

any comments, suggestions, advice, would be appreciated.
    thanks,
    Russ

Hi there, I haven’t been to this show in the past, and also plan on going Saturday. We have several friends that have gone the past few years and they have nothing but positive things to say about the show. I’m pretty sure it’s held on the grounds of the church and know the people putting on the show put a lot of effort into making it a great show.

I am not from the Janesville area either, but have never seen an example at ANY show where someone from outside the area isn’t welcome. My club puts on a show in June every year and I love to see cars that aren’t from right around the area and feel that way about any show I attend.

    Hope to see you Saturday!

Thanks for the feedback. I had done a show earlier this year in Monroe, and everyone there was very friendly. I’m like you,,,, I like to see different cars from outside my normal area. Since a lot of people don’t do distant shows, I’ve found the best way to see other cars is for me to do the traveling.

If you ever get the desire to see the “outsider” mentality, let me know and I could tell you exactly where to attend shows….. no need to cut them down publicly here though.

I’m still undecided for sure about Saturday, because of the expense of driving my gas hog that far (5 – 6 hour round trip). Hopefully, I’ll see you on Saturday… Have a great week…

This is a participant judged show, but overall probably one of the best (and one of my favorite) shows to attend each year.

The staff is very friendly, and they do an excellent job operating it. There is plenty of open area also for parking.

You will also not vote for cars in your class, the way they have the ballots set up limits the vehicles you can vote for.

I’ve attended this show a couple of times. Yes it is just outside Janesville and there isn’t anything around the church other then nicely mowed lawns that could fit +300 cars (in 2009 they had 160 cars). Obviously in a setting like this you won’t have as much foot traffic, because all there is, is the car show. Never the less it is a very well organized show that has a nice turn out each year (and it grows each year).

    Russ,

    Welcome to the forum!

I echo what Amigo2K and Moparkid posted about the Jesus Built My Hotrod Show in Janesville. It is a topnotch show, with good door prizes, great food, and outstanding hospitality!

Last year, the proceeds from this show were donated in the form of a scholarship to a needy and deserving student in the Automotive Technology program at Blackhawk Technical College.
