I’ve been looking at flights for Mecum Kissmmee (they currently have 2017 cars registered to sell) to spend a couple of days with my folks, but I’m thinking about driving to Mecum in Indy in May…

I’ve looked, long and hard, at the sales catalog for Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale 2012, and I identified 15 or more cars that I am interested in following. But, I also studied Russo and Steele’s catalog for Scottsdale 2012 and they have just as many. There is one car in particular that Russo and Steele will be auctioning (at reserve) that I will most definitately be following – a 66 Chevy Chevelle SS convertible, red/red/white, 396, 4 speed, with 35K documented miles.

I’ve always thought ’66 was a great year for Chevelles (second to ’69 of course).. I’m always amazed at the low mileage cars that come out of the woodwork for these auctions, I imagine several of them spent years in museums. I’ll watch that one too!

Barrett-Jackson has found a home on SpeedTV and some of their Scottsdale auction is broadcast live throughout the week. Mecum is hooked up with Velocity TV (formerly, HD Discovery) and some of their Arizona auction is broadcast live. It’s unfortunate that the Russo and Steele doesn’t have a presence on live TV. In my mind, Russo and Steele auctions more affordable, driver quality muscle cars.

There is another car that I will be watching closely, too.

    It’s lot #929.2 at Barrett-Jackson on Friday night. It’s a Turquoise 1965 Mustang Fastback 2+2.

Some nice cars at reasonable prices. I like the variety, you never know what is coming across the block next.
