Its that time of year again where the remaining teams battle for there chance to go to Superbowl. Last week we had the wildcard games and one suprise – Denver beating the Steelers.

Here’s my call for the road to the ‘Bowl from here on out:

AFC

I mentioned before the upset of Denver over Pittsburgh, and it will be Tebow Time in New England. Unlike the critics, I’m a fan of Tebow because of his play, and his team commitment. The guy went 5-1 as a starter, and helped his team win the division. But the Patriots are just that good, and Tom Brady has more NFL experience than a 2nd year QB who spent most of his career thus far on the bench. Tebow’s inconsistency will be the Bronco’s achilles’ heel. I’d love to see the Denver Broncos buck the Pats right out of contention, but I don’t think it will happen. New England moves on to the AFC Championship Game.

Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens. Honestly, this game could go both ways. Baltimore is a strong team with a lot of young (and old) talent. Houston is in the midst of there first championship contention in franchise history, and Andre Johnson will be the first player in team history to be inducted into the Texans Ring of Honor. I wouldn’t call beating the Bengals a challenge, but nonetheless Houston is a contender with talent. Will they beat Baltimore? I’m going with the underdogs on this battle, so yes.

New England and Houston for the AFC Championship.

NFC

No one was happier than me to see New Orleans beat Detroit and knock them right out of playoff contention. The Lions have talent in Megatron, but Stafford’s health is always questionable. They play dirty, so dirty at times they make the Raiders look good. And I’m not suprised Atlanta choked in the wild card game, either. The Giants are a good team, but I’ll get to that in a minute.

N.O. is headed to Frisco to play the 49ers. Since Jim Harbaugh became the coach, he has really turned this team around. The NFC West has always been a joke, but now there is no other teams in that division that can touch San Fran. Drew Brees is playing at the top of his game. Alex Smith is a good QB, but he’s not Drew Brees good. As much as I’d like to see the 49ers make a ‘Bowl now that TO is washed up, I pick the Saints to come into Frisco and win, but not by much. It will come down to a field goal, maybe even in overtime.

And all eyes of course will be on New York vs. Green Bay this weekend. If you don’t know that the Packers are the best team in the league, you really are living under a rock. As a loyal Vikings fan, yes the 3-13 team, it pains me to even think of the Packers going for a repeat. The Giants are a tough, hungry team that have a tough defense. The Pack has a good offense, but haven’t played a tough schedule this season either. GB’s defense gives up way too many yards every game, and if the Chiefs can beat GB, so can NYG. Sorry cheeseheads, but A-Rod and co. lose at Lambeau to finish the season, while Eli Manning goes forward. Does my hatred for Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy weigh my decision? No. The members of the Packers organization have lost staff, and the staff has lost family this week. Brett Favre kicked the crap out of the Raiders one day after his dad died, but that was a different team. I think GB will play there hearts out for Joe Philbin, but NYG will prevail.

New Orleans and New York Giants for the NFC Championship.

AFC Championship Game – New England. Houston shouldn’t be upset, getting to the playoffs and winning a wildcard spot is something a lot of teams didn’t get. Billecheck is a damn good coach, and he’s got a good team.

NFC Championship Game – New York. Peyton’s been to two Superbowls, so its only fitting Eli does the same. I like the Saints because they are a team that sucked forever, and transitioned into Superbowl Champs. It’s Eli’s time again.
