    Fender Skirts

I haven’t thought about “fender skirts” in years. When I was
a kid, I considered it such a funny term. Made me think of a
car in a dress. Thinking about “fender skirts” started me
thinking about other words that quietly disappear from our
    language with hardly a notice.

Like “curb feelers” and “steering knobs.” Since I’d been
thinking of cars, my mind naturally went that direction
first. Any kids will probably have to find some elderly
person over 50 to explain some of these terms to you.

Remember “Continental kits?” They were rear bumper extenders
and spare tire covers that were supposed to make any car as
    cool as a Lincoln Continental.

When did we quit calling them “emergency brakes?” At some
point “parking brake” became the proper term But I miss the
hint of drama that went with “emergency brake.”

I’m sad, too, that almost all the old folks are gone who
would call the accelerator the “foot feed.”

Didn’t you ever wait at the street for your daddy to come
home, so you could ride the “running board” up to the house?

Also they will remember gasoline powered cars, which probably won’t exist in the future (sometime).

I’d love to see steam make a comeback.

A few tiny boilers surrounding a turbine, not the big, clunky
    stinky steamers.

By the way, a few years ago here in Ohio an antique
steam tractor blew up at the county fair, and people
    were killed.

That’s why tiny boilers would be better.

Ooops, I went off topic again!!! icon_sad.gif

Unfortunately it is the way we are headed, but I think there still will be enough to sustain the classic cars, just not enough for new gasoline powered vehicles.

    & The Gas Guzzlers.

Is it just in IL or is Diesel more exspensive than Unleaded?

I first saw spinners a couple of years ago, and I didn’t know
    what was happening!

The SUV was stopped at a red light and the blasted things
    were spinning.

    I’m in therapy for the next 2 years! icon_eek.gif icon_rolleyes.gif icon_eek.gif

    THat happend to you too.

The first time I saw that, I was in a traffic jam and this Ford Explorer was a good 1/4 mile up.The wheels were moving but the car wasn’t. (To add here, my car has a high idle so it will creep forward if your foot isn’t on the brake) I almost bumped the car in front of me.

I don’t know if those will only fit on an SUV, or if they are available
    for cars too.

I know they cost thousands for a set. icon_eek.gif

They have them for cars as well.

It’s funny the cost so much and you get the same thing if you put 3 magnets in the back of a dog dish hub cap. (It’s funny to watch, not matter what, they never stop moving [unless you stop them.])

The great majority of kids won’t remember anything about the cars themselves, just that they used a car to get around. Most cars today are boring utilitarian vehicles. Few people can afford the distinctive unique vehicles that are memorable.
