The gauge and cable are fine to spin by hand, but I removed the 90 degree looking device from the tranny where the cable plugs in, and it doesnt appear to spin. What is this part called?? I cant find one. As I recall, they are all supposed to be different based on gear ratios and engine. The cap on one end displays the ratio inside it. But I dont remember what this part is called, and have no clue where to find one. Any thoughts? The tranny is a TH350 off of some earlier year chevy car. Thanks for any help.

Either called a speedometer drive gear or governer. carquest or napa or any other good parts store should be able to get u one

I had a rental Cougar/302 in Amarillo once that had a governor that disconnected the spark above 105 MPH, and reconnected below 100 dontknow.gif
I don’t believe any other brands used that.

Yeah all fords have governors in them….except for SVT products icon_punk.gif. My old focus would go up to 115 then slow down to 110.
My current car, I’ve had it to 135 in 5th with 1000 RPM left and another gear to go through before I chickened out and slowed down.Most cars use governors though, however now-a-days it is part of the engine computer and a tune will get rid of it.
My buddies sentra govoner kicked in at 85 so kicking in at 105 or 115 is not that bad.
