I have ridden the HSR’s in Germany. They are really cool and they pay for themselves. Here in the US where cars are king, most mass transit projects have to be subsidized to keep them going i.e. AmTrack. I would be all for the HSR’s if they were profitable or at least pay for themselves. If the HSR in WI didn’t at least break even we would be paying for it to keep it going. I just don’t think the time is right yet for HSR’s here yet.
