This topic and the subsequent postings remind me of a new mandated fee hike that DOT started collecting last year.
The fee hike had something to with a so called federal requirement to conduct an identity check, but DOT tacked on (I believe) a $5 fee for each drivers license renewal without actually doing any sort of an independent identity check. I can’t remember whether this money stayed in Wisconsin with the DOT or went back to the federal government.
Does anyone else remember this?
