NEW TRADITIONAL HOT ROD SHOW TO FOR CENTRAL WISCONSIN
(FEBRUARY 3, 2009) Symco, WI… Hundreds of 1964 and earlier hot rods and custom cars, along with vintage motorcycles, are set to attend the inaugural “Symco Shakedown” Friday and Saturday August 7th and 8th at the historic Symco Thresheree grounds.
The show will feature “traditional” hot rods and custom cars typical of those that roamed the street of America during the post-war era from the late 1940’s thru the 1960’s.
Along with the contingent of customized four wheelers, the Shakedown’s promoters have invited owners of period-correct American and British motorcycles to bring their two wheeled “hot rods” to the show. Expect to see many vintage Harleys, Triumphs, BSA’s and the like at the show.
Live rock-a-billy, surf and garage bands will provide entertainment throughout the two-day show. Camping along the scenic Little Wolf River will be available on the grounds. There will be a large automotive swap meet and mini-bike drag races will be held Saturday on the thresheree’s clay track.
Many vendors will also be on hand selling everything from auto parts to vintage clothing.
Plenty of good food and beverages will be available at the show. The historic Symco venue is known nationwide as the home to the National Antique Tractor Pull which is held every July during the Symco Thresheree. The showground’s itself feature a treasure trove of Americana with over a dozen historic buildings featuring thousands of antique signs, gas pumps, stationary engines and the like. There is also an operating sawmill, along with a blacksmith shop, on the grounds. Other attractions include a barbershop, print shop, firehouse, a jail, a bank and other early 20th century displays.
