September 5, 2012 at 2:49 am #40530mblbsbParticipantAbout class jumpers, if you put your car or truck in the wrong class just so you have a better chance to will, shame on you, but if you insist of doing this fine, have the judges tell you are in the wrong class and give you a chance to correct this, but if you insist to stay in the wrong class, judge them and then penalize 10 or 15 points for jumping classes. You could tell the people when they register or some places give you a paper and tell you what the rules are and what the penaltys are, for not having your hood, trunk or your top up on convertables and for jumping classes.
September 5, 2012 at 2:57 am #40567circletrackParticipantAgain, the Corvette class only went up to 1990. I know of one person that requested not to be in the Corvette class, but that is his choice… I don’t think anyone should be forced to go in a class they don’t want to, more often than not that hurts their chances of placing at a show. The newer Corvettes were not “class jumping”, they were going in the classes that fit them, and those were slim.
If you have a convertible and the top is down, you should be penalized, same as the hood/trunk being closed. Some of the Corvette’s did not have trunks (obviously), so points were adjusted accordingly, but they were not penalized.
September 5, 2012 at 3:23 am #40531mr_skeetsParticipantThis is about the BEST show around. Yes there were problems. I agree with John’s statements. I will still go back next year. Jim & Vicky do a great job with this show. Lets give them a chance to get it all straighten out. Some of the problems sound that not everybody new the fine line of the classes. I know first hand that this is not the only group that has had this problem.
As for the picture posted and the one that had links to them, Thank you for posting. I was glad to see Blown69RS made the trip. I didn’t get a chance to meet him but I did talk to his better half breifly, sorry no I didn’t introduce myself. When she said that they drove their car from home I was impressed. Glad I didn’t have their fuel bill for the trip.September 5, 2012 at 3:37 am #40570mr_skeetsParticipantAbout John’s statement, It was posted in his venting post. Sorry thought it was posted here.
September 5, 2012 at 12:29 pm #40571jonmandudeParticipantOk, let’s stop the beating this horse.
If we all sum up the opinions here, this was mostly a great show. The weather was perfect, the location was amazing and the cars were spectacular. The food service was not able to keep up with demand, and the judging was “questionable”. Does that cover it?
Obviously we all love the setting and the variety of cars. This show could very easily go non-judged and non-trophy. The judging and trophies did nothing to add to the show. Maybe have the judges go around and pick a top 3 or a best engine, best paint, and over-all best of show. But keep the show, eliminate the one thing that is hurting the show.
