I heard about this and have seen quite a few traffic lights that are partially covered. I wonder if this is something that would normally not be a problem but was this time because of the blizzard conditions (stronger winds, etc)?

LED lights are not a dumb idea. I’m sure the thought of their needing a way to shed ice wasn’t even thought of. In the future, a system could be added kind of like defroster grids on a car’s back window. I find street signs that get covered more annoying.

True, LED’s are not a dumb idea, but this problem should of been quite apparent up front. It will end up costing more adding something to keep them clear. Stoplights need to be clear, otherwise they will be many accidents.
