That is a huge number of people for any protest. There were also protestors in other cities throughout Wisconsin.

The Bay View Massacre (sometimes also referred to as the Bay View Tragedy) was the culmination of events that began on Saturday May 1, 1886 when 7,000 building-trades workers joined with 5,000 Polish laborers who had organized at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to strike against their employers, demanding an eight-hour work day.

Great information. Governor Rusk back then sounds just like Walker today. Personally I am proud of the people who have stood up to our ‘bought and paid for’ politicians. For the life of me I can’t understand anyone who actually backs Walker considering the tactics he has used. And I don’t care what side of the aisle you are on. Seems to me his is treating the people who disagree with him like criminals.

Didn’t they end up shooting several of the demonstrators during that uprising? How dare those workers demand to work no more than 8 hours? Next thing you know, they’ll be complaining about breathing asbestos dust too!

Shame on everyone who forgets/forgot that so many people have given so much to secure workers rights. And shame on everybody who supports our governor’s efforts to destroy those gains.

OMG I just saw on the news that old people that have never been union workers are now protesting what this state coming to? Actually uniting people…or is it only people with a vision to actually see what Walker is doing?
