Great pics. Good turnout for a poor weather day.

I tossed my goody bag in the trash, the only thing I kept was the dash plaque.

Several meetings were held with the police department and the club and it was agreed if Sauk County could be in charge of enforcing/policing Automotion, the event could be held. All of the officers in Sauk County are expected to help that weekend, no one is allowed time off and they are expected to do their job if the show is to continue. So… while the fines may be large and they may seem to be a bit tough on everyone, they are doing it to save the show we all look forward to so much each spring.
There were a couple accidents in front of our hotel on Saturday night, and those guys did a great job of helping clean up the mess, make sure everyone was ok and enforce the heavy traffic coming through. I don’t think the fines are outrageous, I heard from a couple people they did catch a few kids this weekend, but they did not own/drive classic cars and more than likely deserved the fines they received.
I’m all for having police presence if it means the show will go on…

I’m not quite sure what happened this year as they haven’t had problems in the past, but I don’t understand why they don’t have an officer at the stoplights in the morning, and why they can’t block off the main road leading into the park, along with having more lanes of traffic to allow everyone to get in. They could even utilize the back entrance and have cars come in from both directions. There were several unhappy people, and I wasn’t too sure why some of the Dells Cruisers were cleaning off their cars on Saturday morning when it was obvious there were issues. That club sure seems big enough that everyone should have something to do… I almost laughed when I heard one of the junior police officers ask how many more cars would be entering the park, and that was at 7:45! I don’t think many of those kids knew what hit them!
Congrats to Marshall on winning an award, well deserved!! I will never understand how they pick anything, other than they must have some guy sitting at the front gate picking out the cars with the colors he likes the best. There was a Chevelle parked near us on Saturday that was very plain, absolutely nothing special about it, and I could not figure out why that won an award over some of the other cars in the lot?! There was some hands down, beautiful cars this weekend and didn’t even get a second look.
The club has a great time every year, next year I think we’ll head out early Saturday afternoon and watch the burnout contest… Steve went with a friend early evening and was very impressed!
