I left my GTO at home and drove up in my daily driver … I drove by the main rd into Automotion and saw only 4 cars lined up in the street at 7:20AM. I parked and walked in and by 7:30 the pay station was empty. In fact from 8-10AM you were lucky to see more than 5 cars waiting to pay. If cars stacked up to park and they moved to a second location to park them. I left around 10:30 and they had about 200 spots left, so I’m sure they were full by noon.

My hats off to the crew that ran the parking because it seemed to work very well this year with no mile long lines…

The main pay station at 9:30AM

And then there is the show outside the show … There was a Mitsubishi 3000GT club with 30 of them

I didn’t make it up there but am glad to hear there were no long lines waiting to get in. I wonder if leaving worked out as well? Looks like Police were a big part of the show, cruising through and looking at the cars.

The show outside the show caused lots of problems this year… Saturday night was especially bad with lots of police & ambulance calls. The hotel next to us was trashed this morning, and I heard several others had problems. We all support this hobby, but there comes a time when you need to use common sense and realize your actions can shut down an entire event. A kid from Milwaukee that was staying at our hotel lost his license last night after getting pulled over for the 3rd time in a few hours, really? Someone did donuts in the middle of the road last night, we heard the cheering, it was an interesting night.

The parking was not an issue, it took a bit longer to get in on Saturday, they did not open the gates until 7, so if you were in line before then – you had to wait, which I understand. We didn’t have a problem leaving either, the streets were PACKED yesterday afternoon, so it took extra time to get up/down the strip, but that was also expected. We left early today due to the weather, I’m curious to see what happens given the actions of others.

Saw some beautiful cars from several states, the covered wagon was really cool – a lot of work and thought was put into that. This show really has something for everyone.

It will be interesting to see if the show happens next year, considering the problems.

The lot they are using may be gone next year due to a hotel they are planning on building …

We arrived at 6:45 Sat, there were two lanes entering the park. However the right lane had to wait for a parking lot to empty out before they could proceed. Good thing I was in the left lane. They did do a great job getting the cars in, however they still need to work on their parking cars skills. If the Dells allows this show back next year I will be surprised. Not because of the Automotion participants, but the tuners and diesel trucks feeling a need to show off all night. Sad to see the death of the show for the idiots on the street at night, but I feel the Dells would not want to put up with that crap again. There were some brain surgeons that thought it would be funny to throw a wooden picnic table out in the road. Thus it was taken out by a car….my 2 cents..;-)

Here is a sign of my age becoming a factor in my opinions:

I still remember 2006 Automotion. By far the best weekend I have ever had up there (sharing a motel room with the Racestopper Girls does come in at an erotic 2nd place though). That was the year cars cruised until the law shut the street down. We also partied like rock stars. Yes, there were burnouts and boobs being flashed, but no one got in a fight and no one got hurt. I really thought that would be the end, but it wasnt. The police presence was enforced, and people had to start behaving. Edge O The Dells started a burnout pit to keep that entertainment out of town. The last few years hadnt been much fun.

Fast forward seven years. I am now a grown man in my early 30s, and didnt attend the Dells this year because of a diffucult and unhappy time last year. Im all for burnouts, cruising, and having a few drinks during a hotel room party, but when people do not pick up after themselves and make the boulevard look like a landfill that upsets me. Who thought it was a goood idea to toss a table in the road?! Dumb drunk kids who cant handle there liquor. Then you add in all the fights that took place, and the city will shut it down. Others will pay the price for the actions of stupid, immature kids.

    Yes, I just said that.
