Shocking to say the least! I guess he was in hospital multiple times in the last month or so and died from liver failure according to some sites. It’s a shame for the hot rod industry! :( RIP Boyd!

That is shocking, a great loss for the collector car hobby.

Although I was not a fan of his cars (more of a Foose fan) He was a great in the car hobby and will be missed. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Even though I was not a fan of “American Hot Rod” TV show, the cars that Boyd was involved in were/are timeless. I thought that “Chezoom” and the “Whatthehey” restorations were epic. RIP, Boyd. Your legend and reputation and accomplishments will live long after your passing.

I had the pleasure of meeting Boyd Coddington and his shop foreman Dwayne ??? several years ago and I have not forgotten how pleasant and personable Boyd was and what an a**hole Dwayne was.

I had not heard this until Marshall posted it; very sad indeed. His creativity was incredible and will surely be missed! crybaby2.gif

Wow! This is a surprise. I’ve watched many of his shows and was never a real fan of his management style, but his shop has put out some very iconic cars over the last 20 years. So will his cars go up in value like when an artist dies and will the Coddington name keep on much like Shelby will (Shelby is still here and is not going anywhere!)?

I would guess that his works of art will go up in value, like every other great artist. Obviously there will be no more.

It sounds like the cause of death was something diabetic in relation to recent surgery that he had… poor Boyd!

    Garibaldi,
Thanks for posting the additional info on Boyd’s untimely passing and for the photograph.

Years from now, car guys and car gals will still be bench racing and talking about “back in the day”. For the future generations of car people to come, Boyd was “back in the day”.
