I’m thinking of driving to vintage Torquefest in my daily driver … it was one of the best shows I went to last year because it had a lot of rockabilly style cars, vendors, six bands and a some of the normal junk vendors you see at Jefferson… and they have ~400 that have already pre-registered for the event …

Also, I like their thoughts on trophies:

“If you are some cat that craves trophies – perhaps you should go to trophy.com and buy as
    many as you want.
We will have a couple of awards.
But really – Torque Fest is all about DRIVING.
    THAT is the reward.”

Sounds like a great show. How far of a drive is that?

120 miles away from Madison or a tank of gas round trip … 50 bucks … ouch!

I am using that analysis for any driving now, the miles and the cost. I have probably cut back 50% on driving. When it cost $80 to fill the tank it is a smart thing to do.

Same here. I try and fill up about the 1/4 tank mark, and that is costing $60 plus, nowadays.

I am convinced that I will be cutting back on the weekend car shows this year, based primarily on the cost of gas to get there and get back.

My thoughts on shows this year.. I only drive the Chevelle to a cruise night during the week and a show on the weekend, and it gets relatively good gas mileage. I don’t foresee filling up the tank every other week, and summers are meant to have fun ~ I’ll be darned if I’m sitting home! :(

I agree, I may of cut back on needless every day driving, but not the other cars.

We’ve cut back a lot, I went to Jefferson on Friday and was planning on going again Sunday but decided against it because of the gas prices and crappy weather. I also am thinking about not going on the Hot Rod Power Tour this summer.

I fueled up my truck tonight… It was just above 1/4 tank and $63 later is was full. $4.09/gal for regular unleaded currently. I’ll be fueling the car up this week for the first time this spring, I can only imagine how much that will set me back. At least my hot rod gets 20+ mpg’s ;)
