Automotion on Saturday, it’s always a good time. Weather doesn’t look too bad so far. Chance of rain into early Saturday.

Automotion for the 4th year in a row! Heading up Friday AM and bringing 2 other car club members along with their cars. First time for them and I am sure they are going to have a blast!!

This is one of my favorite shows of the year since it kind of opens up the show season and just cars everywhere all weekend.

Plus, I am laid off work the week after and my family has a cabin about 3 hours north, so going up there to fish for a few days after Automotion. Does anyone know of any car cruises up that way on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday?

I am sure some of you that have been to Automotion recognize my 1960 Pontiac Ventura.

Great looking Pontiac, it has a great design. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes, the 1960 Pontiac was a sweet one year body style with the grill looking like a one piece as opposed to all the other years having a split grill.

It caught Dennis Gage’s eye at a show I attended last year and I got a TV interview with him that is going to air on the May 31st episode. He enjoyed the story behind the car since it was the last ’60 that my grandfather restored and finished in 2001. I take very good care of it and plan to keep it in the family when my son is old enough to take over taking care of it.

My grandfather had 2 Ventura Hardtops and a Bonneville conv, all 1960.

    Later,
    Terry

That is a cool story. Many of us have a personal connection to our cars, nice that your grandfather liked the 1960 models.

    Terry,

Welcome to the forum! You have a beautiful car!

My Dad was a Pontiac fanatic, and he favored the Bonnevilles and Chieftan’s, so I cut my “collector car teeth” on these cars back in the late ’50s and early ’60s.

Right you are! I immediately recognized it from this photo last year:

And there was this one too:

It’s going to be a bit chilly, but I’ll take that over rain. Adult beverages may be used to keep warm also! :)

    Thanks for the welcome Garibaldi!

Also, circletrack, are you from the Quad City Area. If so I talked to you guys last year up there and I have been to the Southpark cruise before. If this is you, I will be sure and stop to say HI when I am up at Automotion!

The weather looks good starting late Saturday morning through Monday. Looks like it will be quite a bit warmer on Sunday, then Saturday. I better get out my hoodie that I bought at the show a couple of years ago (just to stay warm that year too).

    2 more days……
