Lots of great cars even though the weather was misty and cool. They did a great job of picking lots of different types and styles of cars. I still would rather see this show on a Sunday and have the cars go down St. Street and around the Capitol.

Glad to see they had a good turnout, I was signed up but wimped out because of the pathetic weather. Nice pics.

The h2 is actually a 1974 Kellison J-5. It is a very rare kit car built on a Corvette chassis. The h2 logo on the car is due to the fact the the first and last name of the gentleman that owns the car begins with “H” (hence the h2). I was impressed with all of the car owners that participated despite the weather and thrilled with all of the spectators despite the weather! Thanks to everyone.

This is going to sound preposterous, but twice on Saturday afternoon, we had sleet and freezing rain bouncing off of the cars!

My personal thanks to Don, his crew of volunteers and everyone else involved with this show.

I enjoyed this show, I think it was run very well. Everything from arrival to departure was arranged and planned and very well executed. The free lunch was not expected, but very much appreciated! The sheer number of spectators who pass by the cars are simply unbelievable.

I can certainly understand now why applications to get in this show are required. I saw many, many great cars that I have not seen at the other shows.

    Don, Job Well Done!

My question is.. looking through the pics, why don’t we see those cars at other shows? Has this turned into invitation only?

Out of the pics taken, I recognize a handful of cars, so many must be from outside the Madison area? If so, how do they find out about the show?

The show isn’t invitation only. People submit the information and a picture of their car. They then select a representation of different cars to be displayed. I think many of the cars that were there don’t normally go to shows.

Most of the cars were from the Madison area … I think it all comes down to some folks are collectors and like to show their car once every couple of years, and are not into the whole judging thing.

Thank you everyone for all of the positive comments. I assure you that Cars on State is not an invitation only show. Every car in the show sent us an application. I personally think the biggest attraction to our show is that you get to drive and park on State Street, something that has not been possible for most people for thirty years. In my conversations with owners I find that a lot of them also enjoy the lack of competition at the show. We make up amusing categories and hand out a few “Funny-Bone” trophies. There is no pressure on the owners because they have no idea ahead of time what the categories are. We have been lucky to have some absolutely astounding cars in the show but we have also had quiet a few great “average” cars that their owners enjoy showing and the spectators enjoy viewing. We continue to try and put on a show that is enjoyable for everyone involved.

I am fully aware of that… my point being ~ these cars come out once a year?

For those that cannot attend the show, it would be nice to see them at other shows around the state, there are plenty to choose from!
