In recent years we’ve seen a resurgence of several classic models – the mustang, camaro, and challenger. Of all of these cars what features do you like about them in comparison to the originals? One thing that I like is that they have taken a retro styling design approach and it has been a great success! Are you planning on buying or do you already own any of these “new” classics?

The latest info I have is that the sales brochures and flyers will be available to the public/interested buyers in November 2006. The cars will go into production in early 2007, and the first production vehicles will start arriving in dealer showrooms in April or May. No idea how many per dealer or what the numbers will be. The actual 2007 model autos are already out, so I don’t know if these will be titled as 2007 or 2008 model year cars. This really reminds me of the very first Mustang release in April of 1964, resulting in the confusion about 64 and a half model cars which were actually titled, I think, as 1965 cars.

Thanks for the info! Will the Don Miller dealership on Odana be the only one in Madison recieving them or will there be others? I’d be interested to take a trip over there this spring and see if they have one on the floor. icon_punk.gif

Looks wise, maybe that is a matter of opinion, performance wise they blow the originals out of the water in almost every way. Take a look at thiscomparison article that mentions talks about old muscle cars to new sport compacts.

Yeah obviously the performance is going to be more. I meant for looks. But the cars just wont feel the same either. Too modern. And they’re safer which isn’t a bad thing but it does kind of ruin it too. They’re muscle cars, they’re sort of meant to be dangerous and not that I approve of it but the adrenaline rush of driving it care free (to an extent) is kind of left out. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for safer driving (god knows the world needs it) but it kind of ruins the fun of them at the same time. Overall, I’d still prefer the older cars anyday. There’s something about them that I just can’t explain that makes them better cars to me.

I agree, they were the originals. I do think that the nice thing about these “new classics” is they will sort of continue where the industry left off a number of years ago – and start creating eye-catching vehicles again today!
