Donges Bay Clubhouse Car Show

Specific Ratings (A-F):
Arrival/Departure (easy to find, easy to leave?) – I can’t say I saw any signs. That’s where my GPS helps out a lot, it took me right to the site.

Parking Location – Nice green grass that was mowed about a week ago so there was not a bunch of dead grass flying around; nice level ground.

Class Organization – It was pretty odd, but there was a VW class, random parking spots

Trophies & Prizes – Only 1 trophy for best of show, then it was medals for top three in each class. The raffle, you had to purchase raffle tickets (all proceeds went to the children Hospital). The raffle prizes were all very nice. The grab bag I think was the best one I have ever received. I had a hat, a t-shirt, 2 decks of card from the casino, automotive stickers, beer coasters, 3 beer key chains, a beanie baby, some pens, matchs, and a 5 dollar voucher for the casino.

Food – Burgers, dogs, corn, beer, soad and water.

Entertainment – Live band (plenty of sound for the whole place)

Judging – Participant judging. I was in a class of 8 VW’s (they gave away 4 medals due to a tie for 3rd) but all of the VW’s were parked in one place except me (Milwaukee club). So as folks walked around I would bet they saw the Veedubs and picked one then I didn’t get a vote. Not a big deal.

Dash Plaque – Yup, colorful and nice.

Variety of Cars – All kinds, about 175 showed up. Some nice low rider hydraulic cars you never see in the Madison area.

Bathrooms – The Bar, and one porta John. There were only bathrooms on one end and not on the far end (not a big deal, it just meant a 3 minute walk).

Weather – a bit warm, but if you found some shade you would be fine.

Trophy Presentation Timing – They started 20 minutes early and ended when they planned to start (nice).

The only issue about participant judged shows is that if there is a big car club, they will only vote for their club members … but I knew that going into it …

That’s a pretty amazing goodie bag!!

It also is nice to hear of a trophy presentation that started early!
