This is a common practice among Ford dealers, when it comes to the limited edition and special issue cars. I was reading the current Mustang Monthly (March 2008) and a reader from Indiana posted the following: “I would like to say “thank you” to all of those Ford dealerships for keeping me out of their greedy showrooms to buy a Mustang – again! This was in regards to the new limited edition 2008 Bullitt Mustang. This same writer added “So much for Ford and its desire to make a specialty car for the masses – that is, the masses with deep pockets.”
I have to agree. I have visited all three local Ford dealers and tryed to negotiate the purchase of a 2008 Shelby GT500, a GT/CS convertible, a Shelby Gt-H, or the 2008 Bullitt Mustang and the none of these cars are being sold at or below MSRP. The going rate is several thousand or more over the MSRP.
