GM must be serious about reducing the number of dealerships. A local dealership, John Erickson of Verona, was in the process of selling to a Beaver Dam dealer. GM had the first right of refusal and took it. GM paid Erickson a fair price and the dealership will be closed this week. The 25 employees will be let go but most have already picked up a job elsewhere. Do you think it is a good idea for GM to do this?

The main reason GM chose to buy out was because of the number of Chevrolet Dealers in our area. You had Ballweg, Erickson, Thorstad, and Symdon all within 20 miles of each other. GM is consolidating where they need to, unfortunately Erickson got the squeeze. John is a very nice induvidual, and I think he will do well after close of business. Most of his employees have gotten offers from various businesses and I think most of them will be ok.
