Great Lakes Dragway – Noise/light pollution hearin

ATTENTION: Great lakes dragaway at stake!
Greetings racers & fans!
This is a very important notice from the GLD ownership group to all our loyal racers
and fans of the Legendary Great Lakes Dragaway.
As you know, Great Lakes Dragaway is one of the oldest continuously operating dragstrips
on the face of the planet.
For over 50 years we have been here, open more dates than any other track in the
USA, including those in warm weather locations.
Now some folks want to try to limit our operations and limit YOUR ability to take
part in the sport you love!
There
will be a meeting on Tuesday, December 15th, 2009 at 6:00PM, held at
the Town Hall for the Town of Paris located at 16607 Burlington Rd,
Union Grove, WI. This meeting will be in regards to a study of noise
and light pollution alleged to emanate from Great Lakes Dragaway. If
you can possibly make it to this meeting, we would GREATLY appreciate
it! We need as many fans of GLD as possible. We are sorry for the short
notice, as the town scheduled this meeting with very little advance
notice. Tell EVERYONE you know who is either a racer or a fan of the
sport! This is VERY important and we need your support!!
We are not looking for people to be unruly or loud, we are looking for people to
show SUPPORT for our facility and our sport. If you can make this meeting, PLEASE
attend! WE NEED YOU!
The ownership and staff also would like to take this opportunity to wish you all
a blessed and joyous Holiday Season. We look forward to seeing you all in spring.

Good grief! What’s the problem? This track has been there forever and is in the middle of nowhere, I can’t imagine. I have some great memories of GLD, we went back this summer and had a great time.

A lot of local tracks (ovals and strips) are getting flak from a select few in the comunities. Its a shame.

The people complaining are the same type that move into the country and complain when farmers spread manure on the fields.
