 I place a poster of my car show at the local Piggly Wiggly in Evansville on a weekly basis due to the fact someone has the need to remoev it. I am not sure why someone has to keep doing this but it is the same thing as last year. I posted a flyer at the Piggly Wiggly in townlast year sevearl times because someone feels the need to remoev it after only two days being displayed. I talked with the pig customer service rep and they stated that they did not and will not remove the flyer. I do not understand people and why they need to do that. It is just plain rude sorry to vent to you all but this is bogus!

That would be frustrating. Unfortunately some people are like that.

Maybe make a flyer with pull tabs with the show name, place and date?

Could be someone who just doesn’t like the abject glorification of cars.

I would really like to think this is not the case. We host our car show for one simple reason, charitable causes. All of our proceeds are for local and regional benefits. And, because of this, we are all volunteers. We love hosting the show, and meeting all the people from the show community but, honestly, I know very little about the cars. I love working the show and do so to volunteer time and serve the community. Working with my fellow Lions on so many projects, the amount of time we give to support community, it’s hard to imagine a fellow Lion doing something so silly as stealing a flier.

I will admit, I was disappointed to see the Oregon show being scheduled for the same day as our show. We have been hosting our show on this day for a number of years and it just seemed like there were plenty of other days so both shows could augment or even cross-market each other, and show cars in south central Wisconsin, rather than having the shows competing. Last year, the first year of the Oregon show, we had already selected our date and announced before the O-Show was announced. We tried to see about scheduling so the shows would compliment each other but, we were rebuffed.

But yes, I will be the first to admit, because some of the volunteers are not car enthusiasts, we are not so knowledgeable about your community. We do try to learn as we do the shows and we are certainly open to feedback and suggestions for improvements.

Maybe in the future, we can try to coordinate the shows. I can’t speak for our Albany show as Abe is the director, but, perhaps this is something we can work out for the best interests of all involved.

Mark, it’s always in the best interest of anyone attending shows not to have two shows on the same day minutes apart. I know Aaron’s show is specifically scheduled around Oregon’s Summerfest as there was originally a show held on that weekend in years past. Obviously Summerfest isn’t going to change their date, and I don’t think Aaron will either.

I agree, there are several weekends throughout the summer, if you look at the calendar it’s booked up with many events.

Hopefully both shows do well this year and in 2011 both groups can work together on a date that works for everyone.

I agree. I have to tell you once i found out about your show, I was the one worried. I thought that nobody was going to come to the show since there was such a well established show going on. I did not try to put the Lions out I have just always wanted to have a car show and since my wife owns a business in the town of Oregon ,I thought it would be perfect to benifit the town that I hold it there. I was not aware about the Lions show in Albany as there were no postings online or postings at any shows that I attened last year prior to me creating my show. I do not think it is fair to say I needed to call around to find out about other shows in the area. I did not mean to offend anyone, Sunday was the only option for the car show since Saturday my club is having their show and Sunday has the most people in the Oregon area for the big parade. I do not believe that it is right for me to be asked to change the date of my show to make another show happy and likewise. I do understand you are upset that there is competition but if you look at the calendars online every show has competition. I am not going to call Portage to ask them to change the date of there show and I did not recieve a call from them to change mine either. I am here the very same reason the lions are to raise money for the community and to share the love of cars with everyone. I hope you Lions member can understan I meant no harm to you. I hope your show is successful and you have a great time at it.

Come! Let us reason together. I live in the Milwaukee area and many shows are held on the same day as others. Many have their favorites to attend, others car owners alternate their attendance every year to get to see all the shows. I do this as well when I’m drawing cars at shows when I am not scheduled as DJ for a particular event. In the Madison area, I think enough cars are out there to make attendance at either show successful. I am scheduled to be at Oregon, but I would wager that Albany gets quite a few cars to be at their show. Those that are not so concerned about trophies probably would even benefit from attending both, spending the morning at one and doing the other towards the afternoon. I’ve seen this happen last year during The Justice League Of Car Clubs event at Great Lakes Dragaway and the Classy Cruisers show in Racine. There was a cruise to start at GLD and go to CC in Racine and back again, for those that chose to do that…and that was quite a bit of miles to do. We are truly blessed to have so many events to go to and attend. I am hoping there was no malice in the disappearing posters, and only was just someone taking one home. :P

Bring a ladder, put it high enough not to reach?
