Nice to see a store decide to locate in Madison. I like the idea that they are employee owned. Westgate needs a boost.

I’m pretty sure there is one going in on East Wash. where Kmart used to be. I’ve never heard of these stores before, but I suppose they are just like your typical Copps, Woodmans, etc. Copps seems to be taking over all over, but I find those stores to be very clean, organized and easy to shop in.

My uncle has worked for Hy-Vee in Iowa for at least 20 years now as the head of the meat department for one of the local chains. He’s always been happy with their selection of products and from what I’ve seen it is very similar to a Woodmans or Copps. I think it should add some good new variety to the grocery chains in Madison

I am all for a new grocer coming into the Madison market. How long did the old K Mart building and property sit dormant? I think Hy-Vee will revitalize that part of East Wash. The Hy-Vee at WestGate will compete with the grocery store just across Whitney Way (Copps?), but the competition will be good for both stores as well as the folks who will shop there.

My daughter works at the Wisconsin Craft Market store in Westgate, so I have seen the decline there over the last year. The Hy-Vee store will be a boost for everyone.

A new business in the finacial apocylpse, can’t be ;)

Good for them, more choices, prices keep in check, better competition since everyone wants to look and do their best to get customers.

Recently, Miller & Sons in Verona purchased Kalscheurs Fine Foods here in Mt. Horeb.

My mom works there and I’ve said that Kalscheurs prices were always higher than those of Madison stores, and I never had a problem paying a lil extra for less of a drive, less people to contend with, and I knew where items were located in the store. Since Millers have taken over, I’ve noticed significant price reductions in alot of the items….except dog food, which is a dollar more than last time
