Reminds me of a while back in Toronto. I was heading on the Gardiner Expressway (elevated highway) and this guy in a Porsche Carrera was entering the highway.

The ramp he was on was fairly steep with a short vertical vurve at the top, Jersey barrier the entire length. At the top he noticed the heavy traffic and gunned it – his back end broke away and he hit the side barrier about 5 or 6 times just as I was passing him.

I don’t think he involved anyone else (luckely) but he did a crapload of damage down the right side of his car.

Too much money – not enough skill…

I had someone a while ago kind of do the same thing. I was on an Illinois State Route that became a 4-lane highway just before an underpass, then it goes back to 2 lanes. When the lanes were merged, this guy in a Lexus gunned it and drove directly into a ditch.

I guess they both learned their lessons. It doesn’t pay to try to do that, you’ll only end up in trouble.

    MMhmm.

    Here’s another psychological …”thing”:

As that my daily driver is from 1970, people think it doesn’t go fast, or the speed limit, so they always pass you, minutes later, I’m passing them because they were so far ahead (they think) that they had to stop for a red light, it turned green, so as they accelerate, I’m at speed so I pass them, man that makes the mad.

Yep, it really doesn’t pay to speed like that because you really don’t get anywhere any faster

This is so true for anything in and around the city.

However… A number of years back I was driving across the top of the US and got behing a Testarossa just outside of Milwaukee – 4 hours averaging about double the posted limit and you make up a lot of ground. It was funny how the Testarossa was playing with me (I was in a Golf GTI), I was near my top end and evertime I got close he took off like I was standing still.

True, the highway is a different story
