In respect to programming, AM radio has always been crappy and FM radio seems to be getting worse by the day. So I finally broke down and got an XM Satellite Radio. There are well over 100 stations to choose from. Some channels are truly unique while others are slight variations of the channel that came before it.

If you’ve been thinking about getting XM Radio, I found a link where you’ll be able to get good deals on a variety of radios directly through XM. (One is even “free.”)

    Click this link,

    and enter the code:AIRAMERXM

Oh so having Howard Stern isn’t a big concern for you??? Drogar-Laugh(LBG).gif I know that was the big promotional tactic for 2006 for Sirius, the competetor of XM, because they have an exclusive contract with him now on their service. Does it have great reception regardless of your location (ie under a bridge, in parking ramp, ect)?

    Howard Stern. icon_vomit1.gif
So far there have only been a few minor fade outs. (I expected there would be more fade outs.) Over Passes aren’t a problem at all; I haven’t been under a bridge or in a parking garage yet. I can’t wait to see how it works on a road trip.

That will be the true test. The really nice advantage of that is you should get nationwide reception, such an advantage over searching for new FM/AM stations every 20 min!!!

I bought the Roady XT. (The maker claims it’s the smallest one on the market.) Any way, it fits perfectly into the glove box* of my 350z.

*Not actually a “glove box.” It’s simply a small storage area that was intended for a GPS system.

That’s a good idea to make use of the GPS storage area if you don’t have GPS!!

What does the service cost per month, or is it free?

I didn’t want to alter the appearance of my car in any way, and this worked perfectly.

The cost is $12.95 per month for the first receiver. Additional recievers are $6.95 per month. Most of the channels are commercial free! Believe me, it’s really nice. I should have got one earlier.

    Here’s a link to the channel line-up:

And your problem with Howard Stern is?
I certainly wouldn’t get XM. No Howard Stern = Sirius for me (if I ever get satellite radio).

I just took a road trip and kept close watch on the XM. I drove about 500 miles round trip and there were only two brief fade outs. Furthermore I didn’t have to adjust my FM frequencies once. thumbsup.gif In metropolitan areas there are terrestrial repeaters to assist with the signal, but in the rural areas there are no repeaters. The Roady XT worked liked a champ the whole way! icon_cheers.gif

Wow great to hear it!!!! It sounds like it works very well and has very few problems!

BTW, it does die out when I enter a parking structure. (I rarely do this.)

Also, I haven’t tested it on a bridge, but I suspect it will work okay in areas where there are terrestrial repeaters. (Few bridges in my area to test this.)

The Roady XT is free, provided you sign up for 3 months of service @ $12.95 per month. (They probably charge for shipping too.) Click the link in my original post for all the deatils
