A poor way to spend the money. I don’t see it creating any jobs here.

Agreed. That money could of been used for some short term jobs …. 1-2yr jobs to help out folks.

The infrastructure under the Madison roads is crumbling… shiny buses isn’t going to help ….

I think the idea of a hybrid bus is great, and they do have some, but the main focus of this money is to get people back to work. If this country is going to get out of the hole it is in jobs have to be created. It may be too late already but at least we have to try. I don’t know if the buses are built in this country, if they are than some jobs will be kept or created. If that is the case it is kind of a win/win in that fuel will be saved and jobs kept or created. I think it is important that municipalities receiving the money try to create jobs in their own backyard.

Do you know if building these extra buses would mean more routes or stop times? If so, that could help in allowing more people to take the bus and it would save them gas money in this economy where every expenditure counts more

I think they are just meant to replace olde buses. Also they are planning on increasing the bus fare again…..

I ride the city bus everyday, and unless they get some different one’s there hosed. One of the drivers told me that the hybrid bus can only be used on one route because it is to tall to fit under the bridges..I also heard it does not have a lot of power for steep hills..

I think most of them are on the campus routes..

So it is possible they will change routes again….
