Have any of you purchased a Magic Jack? What issues have you had, if any? I am considering purchasing one.

Works great for me! I have a Linux (Ubuntu 9.10) laptop set up with a virtual XP machine using VMWare to run my Magic Jack through. Using Linux as the host operating system really works well since it allows me to remotely manage the computer (as well as save the state of the virtual windows machine) via SSH, VNC, and NX

I can understand running this off a laptop so it is only sucking down about 40 watts of power but if it is connected to a desktop, that then seems like a lot of money to spend to just keep it powered up.

check out Amazon for a bunch of reviews.

I think the best thing to do is cut the cord and just go with a cell phone.

+1. I have a land line, but do not have a long distance service with it. I use it for local calls only, and if my Dad’s employer didn’t require him to have a home phone number on file, I wouldn’t have it.

I use my cell phone for 95% of all my phone calls.
