I haven’t read that anybody else has been to the Symco show yet. If you’re into hotrods, you really need to see this. I’d never even heard of it before last week.

Symco is nearly a blink-town, but some guy bought and moved a bunch of old buildings in, and then furnished them with historic articles. It’s like walking into a 1950’s town, complete with blacksmith shop, feed mill, barber, stores, etc.

Only the best, most original hotrods are even let in. A friend of mine took his Alfa Romeo limousine there last year, and wasn’t even allowed to park in the main show. (There is a second lot where “normal” hotrods get to park, and these are like the better cars at other shows.) His Alfa wasn’t unique enough, with only wire wheels, a race engine and the 35″ stretch.

The cars are unreal, but the backdrop is absolutely one-of-a kind. It’s a long drive, and out in the middle of nowhere. But it’s worth the drive.

Looks like a cool show. Wonder how the turnout was this past weekend?

It was Fri. and Sat. I got there about 7pm on Saturday, so it had thinned. But even then, it was still a sizable crowd with lots going on.

We went on Saturday and got there around 8:30 AM, everybody was just waking up from the all night party. Talk about a great time, they had bands playing all day, mini bike drag races, Miss Symco contest, and beer was only a buck a can,(I only had my limit of 2)and the rods were so kool!!!. The little town is something you have to see at least once, lots of really kool old stuff. The main bar is jammed packed with old beer signs and posters,a huge solid oak bar,did I mention beer was only a buck??, plenty of stuff to buy, and the swap meet wasn’t too bad either. I bought a nice lubester all fixed up for a 100.00 which I thought was a great deal, he was clearing out the inventory for the year. Bought some kool older jackets and shirts and some other trinkets.Next year we plan on camping for the two days and then we’ll have some real fun. Like the man said “you have to go see it just once”
