taking out your classic for first time in spring

At what point do you feel comfortable taking the classic car out for its first drive of the year?

Normally not until the mid-end of April. The weather is too iffy still at this point and lord knows we need a few good rains to wash off all the salt on the roads. There are still piles of it in my development waiting to do damage!

Same here. the 3rd week of April is typically when I roll it home.

I do not have a set date. I rely solely on the weather. For me I wait for two good, solid rains to wash the streets. I have started my car twice now. Once when I got spring fever last week and today, just to pull it out and let it idle for a while while I cleaned the garage. I always love that first day when you start your baby and are reminded of how good it sounds. Now the weather just needs to cooperate so I can be reminded of how fun it is to drive, although this year I hope to not be reminded of how the gestapo like to harass people who enjoy “spirited” driving by stopping you and giving you a certificate of your enjoyment.

Usually any time after April 1. By then the weather cooperates for the most part.

Plus you gotta get it out and get the bugs worked out before the Dells!

A couple of days about I saw my first street sweeper out. In the article it says it takes them 1 month to make two passes of all the streets in Madison in the spring.

Lets hope the snow is done so the rain and sweepers can do their jobs.

Brought the 320i in from the farm. Start a little work on it before driving/AutoX this summer

Camaro I started up Monday night. 60′ I didn’t. Still to cool for me to drive them, and the snow isn’t done yet. We have one or two good ones still coming
