I think The Shield is the best of the bunch. They don’t candy coat anything.

We “OD-ed” on comedies. They were banging them out like cheap cookies for awhile there.

There’s nothing new about the current fare. It’s just a cycle coming back around. n the ’50s we had detective and cop shows out the ying yang. In the ’60s it was doctor shows and sitcoms.

In the ’70s it went back to detective and cop shows. In the ’80s it was back to sitcoms and hospital dramas. Then it went to detective shows.

In the ’90s it was sitcoms again and new hospital dramas. Then it went to cop/legal system shows.

Then sitcoms again …and now we’re seeing detective and cop shows again dontknow.gif

Quite the cycle eh Cap? Its amazing…

@GTO Man, I agree. That’s the reason I like Battlestar Galatica, its not all pretty and perfect, there are flaws and a graphic nature to the show, it is real and very well written.

It’s just another symptom of Hollywood running out if ideas and not wanting to take risks. They see what’s successful, then imitate it. Just like GM coming out with the Pontiac Solstace several years after everyone else already has a similiar car.

But then again, would you rather see a sitcom about gay coboys eating pudding? Drogar-Laugh(LBG).gif

BBC has some of the better shows on. They have some crime and mystery shows which seem to require intelligence to watch. Which is more than be said for most of the shows put out by Hollywood.

Care to provide examples? I could do with a list of new stuff to keep an eye out for. I tend to prefer Red Top, Frost – that sort of fair. Not ‘The Inspector Lynley Mysteries’ or Taggart or Silent Witness.
