When i saw “over-rated” that came to mind right away willy!!!!! The Shelby mustangs never were the performance monster. 14 second 1/4 miles were not very good times for the GT-500 cars and the new Shelby GT-350 Mustangs that are out right now are not a lot of car to pay over sticker for.
You said it best about the Vette. Look at all Corvette has done over +50 years. Nothing has run as long as Corvette has. Numbers speak volumes! People that rip the corvette quality sure as hell never plopped their butt into a C-6. Nothing wrong with the build quality of a Vette. Low 12 second 1/4 mile times for under 40k! Give me another brand new car that does this? I would take a Vette over anything ending in “ari” or “gini” or “san” anyday and for 1/8 the price. Corvette is an icon.
Shelby did put his name on those Spirit R/T cars back in the 80s that were freakin fast for what they were though!

I remember those little things, they did haul. But they failed in so many other ways. That is why I put Shelby in the “over rated” catagory. Once the 60’s died so did his ability to make a car that meant something. He threw his name on anything that people paid enough for him to do, which was and is sad.
His Superformance Cobras are no where near the quality of some of the other kits out there. The fact you can’t even buy one to build yourself….what the hell?
Add in the fact that if you mention the name “Cobra” or “Shelby” without paying off the old fart you’ll end up getting sued. The guy must be bored as hell because everytime one of his lawsuits is tossed, another comes at someone else.
Sadly i have heard about these suits……
I would go with the Corvette. I think I dont like the look of it, The corvette interior is not in my taste, but I know plenty of people who woulrnd’t mind driving it!
