So what’s an ideal lenght for commute time to you?

Mine is a half hour each way. Fairly decent considering I don’t take the freeway. I use a park route thats pretty open and 40mph the whole way.

I’d say anything approaching an hour gets tough. I don’t understand how people can drive more than an hour each way every day.

I don’t think I’d want to live next door to where I worked. That would be a little strange. Convenient but strange.

I agree. I think a 20-30 minute commute is the outer limit of something that is reasonable. Otherwise you’re spending over an hour of your life each day just getting to work, too much

A half hour or less is not bad. Anything over that costs too much time which you can never get back.

Exactly – I mean think about how many days that adds up to over the course of the job, scary 😯

I agree completely. Although I’ve heard of people who commute 2 hours each way to work in LA or SF. Nice homes in these cities are out of reach for the average working stiff. Luckily, the public transportation in SF area is very good. I haven’t tried the public transportation in LA.

Well at least with the public transportation you could concentrate on getting something done, where as if you’re commuting yourself you must be concentrating on only that

Not some of the people I see on the road. w00t.gif It’s the LAST thing they have on their mind. Talking on the phone, drinking coffee or soda, eating, playing with the radio and singing along, etc.
I used to do a 40 minute commute with most of it on the freeway. Now I do a 20 minute commute on county highways and city streets. Shorter is better. icon_applause.gif

I heard on the radio a few months ago that the cops pulled some guy over in California because he was watching porn on a portable dvd player on his dash while he was driving. Society has sunk to a new low

That’s a good time, gives you a bit of a buffer zone but isn’t a long commute either
